Everyone has a different opinion of what is best. For use in fast boats the Gecko is a popular choice and can be fitted with a range of face shields, comms systems, camera, microphones etc. for those that need then.
For inland water rescue, tunnels, culverts, animal rescue etc., more people use a canoe helmet. There is no EN standard for rescue use but they are EN1385 compliant for canoeing. There is no general agreement on which one to use, but they need to be easily adjustable, not effect hearing and quick to drain.
